Saracen
Saracen first visited the Bay of Islands in 1820, under Captain Kerr. On 18 May of that year, Saracen arrived at Sydney from England and Hobart Town. Two months later, she headed out to the sperm whale fishery. Captain Kerr hove her into the Bay of Islands in October. While there, Samuel Marsden took passage on the ship to Whangaroa Harbour.
Saracen left the Bay of Islands for the fishery on October 16, returning four months later. The ship’s next visit was in mid-December 1823 from the fishery, this time under the command of Captain Dunn and she sailed again on 04 January 1824.
