About
This website is the result of many years of research and an ever growing fascination with pre-colonial New Zealand history. Tracing the story of my adventurous ancestor and his young Maori wife, led me to discover much about the time in New Zealand's history when it really was the last frontier. This site has been developed to share that time with you.
When I'm not busy working on my websites, I'm a full time, professional writer. In my writing career, I've enjoyed life as a copywriter, feature writer, sports journalist, technical writer, and I'm working on becoming a novelist (that's the marathon, not the sprint). I grew up in the remote South Catlins of New Zealand where, as a child, I played along the shoreline among ancient Maori middens and around whale bones that still scatter the small rocky bays. Perhaps it was then that my interest in early New Zealand history was awakened, or perhaps it's in my blood. |
My other passion
As well as reading history books and behaving like an amateur sleuth, my other hobby is to travel wherever and whenever I can. Apparently, if I like something, I make a website out of it. So, you can visit another of my sites, here: howmanynights.com |
