Matilda

In 1814, it was reported that New Zealand Maori had stolen a whaleboat from a ship called Matilda, while she was at anchor. Seven years later a man referred to as a lascar, was found living among Maori at Otago. He claimed to be from the ship Matilda and said that his boat mates had been eaten.
